  1. Smartphone? No. A closer comparison would be an iPod Touch. It’s the same form factor, but with an e-ink screen and running Android.

I have one. I mainly use it for reading using the Libby library app. I also use it to listen to music via Plex and podcasts via Pocket Casts. I even post to my website from it using the Jetpack app and sharing to social media using the apps for those services.

The Palma fits in my cross body sling or my pocket. What’s best for me is how I can operate this device with one hand, which comes in very handy, if you will, when my cat climbs up on my other arm for tummy scritches.

I don’t want this device to be a smart phone. I want it to do what I’m already doing with it in this particular form factor.

  2. Its literally just a garbage smartphone with low fps and a screen that is better for you. There is nothing minimalist about this since it can still run every distracting app, only difference is its in black and white and ppl can definetly get past that if they like the gimmick

  3. I am currently using an Iphone with grayscale for email, instant messaging and calling, and a Books e-ink tablet (Note Air 2) for notetaking and reading long form documents. The Palma is on my bucket list because of its portability. The day they add an e-sim is probably the day I make it my daily driver.

  4. THIS IS NOT A PHONE. If it had a sim slot then I could actually replace my phone with this. Without that, it's just an additional device that doesn't solve the problem that most people who buy it actually want to solve.
