I died laughing after "I love big back ends and I cannot lie"… I just resucitated to keep watching
The fact that I only know ERP from FF XIV worries me.
PRECIOUS, PRECIOUS!!!
Thank you so very much for this precious info.
Libre office is shit

Love your videos, always to the point, no time wasted. You respect the time of your viewers.
I remember when the Russia-Ukraine war started, Slack just deleted all Russian users’ data with no way of restoring it, despite that our company still had a lot of money on the Slack account. We switched to self-hosted Mattermost, but it is painful. It requires a lot of money to develop and maintain, so SaaS isn’t that evil after all.
LibreOffice is awesome, as long as you don’t actually use it. Still has compatibility issues with Microsoft Office, you don’t want that happening with your projects
krita is for painting, inkscape is for vectors. dummy
how to escape the cloud: get your own SaaS alternative, host it on the cloud
Oh look, you are promoting another SaaS 😂 now you lose all creditbility 😮
Open source products have free and paid versions per month, and the same is true for Closed source products. So if I am not interested in the source code to me as an end user there not much difference. Or am I missing something?
If everything has a free alternative how will developers earn? Nasty ads?
I have to share Photopea, literally a free Photoshop. NEVER pay for Photoshop again
Particularly if you are inexperienced, this video is very dangerous because you might consider it "knowledge". You should stop and THINK:
– Why are you using Windows and not a Linux desktop? (NOTE: If you're using the latter, help is available for you. Call 555-MYPARENTSARESIBLINGSSOIUSEALINUXDESKTOPENVDOTCOM.)
– Why are you using an iPhone or a Google-approved-and-"enhanced" variant of Android from Samsung, Xiaomi, etc. and not just a 100% AOSP-based phone?
– Why are you using Chrome and not Chromium or some other open source variant?
FOSS is REALLY not for everyone. Each piece of good FOSS software has very specific contexts where it's actually good and everywhere else it's a trap, often enough a deadly one. An experienced dev learns (often the hard way) how to evaluate FOSS and determine when it's useful. It's NOT easy and most of the FOSS in this video is VER VERY FAR from being the kind of smart substitute the video suggests it is.
Me who started with Xubuntu as first OS and never used tools and such for hosting etc, only creating own scripts and Docker:
People actually pay for that stuff??
Blender isn't alternative of After effects but of course you can do it those things in blender but in hardest way possible. 💀
Yep adobe is a absolute gut punch.
You wish you could get rid off it but when your a content creator its very hard to avoid.
Linus covered that well a while back also sticking with adobe.
Fun fact when you buy a game on Steam or any other DRM you don't own it either, you pay for a license to play it. You don't even own your own account.
Please don't forget to donate to open source initiatives that have helped you!
That thumbnail is wild. 🤣
appflowy
Don't SaaS me.
Big ass backend got me🤣
I called Adobe to ask how much the early termination fee is (for the Acrobat Pro online). They definitely hide that info well. But charging for SaaS isn't all bad. You must realize that continuous development, enhancements, and support cost more than the $29.95 you paid for an app.
Not at all.
Paying for open source software is probably the best thing you could ever do. Do you want the developers to keep developing the project? Or start working on manifest 4?
Odoo
We need to replace app based transportation/delivery services with foss absolutely motherfuk these guys and their shareholders and their delivery fees
2:32 I'm so glad this was a lead-in and you didn't actually blow up the spot.
This video was fucking excellent
I'm alright thanks, all the software I need 🙏 is already on TempleOS 😇
and if you're involved in church AV.. ProPresenter -> FreeShow
ProPresenter just went full subscription-only… jerks
OnlyOffice > LibreOffice if you want better compatibility with Word
Definitely saving this video!
